Brad Curtis

Lieutenant Brad Curtis joined the Stephenson County Sheriff’s Office in 2004 and currently oversees the Investigations Division. In addition to his present duties, Lieutenant Curtis is an investigator for the Illinois Attorney General’s Office Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force. As a member of the ICAC Task Force, Lieutenant Curtis is able to utilize his experience and certifications in computer digital forensics and mobile digital forensics to help apprehend dangerous child predators.

During his career at the Sheriff’s Office Lt. Curtis has served in many different roles including; corrections, court security, civil process, traffic safety enforcement, general patrol assignments, Field Training Officer, D.U.I. investigations and enforcement, traffic crash investigator, patrol sergeant, and Emergency Response Team Commander. Lieutenant Curtis also previously served as the coordinator for the Field Training Program and helped build the field training program used by the office today.

 Lieutenant Curtis is a RADAR/LIDAR instructor and holds several State of Illinois law enforcement certifications to include: Lead Homicide Investigator, Traffic Crash Reconstruction, Firearms Instructor, Defensive Tactics Instructor, Basic SWAT, Field Sobriety Instructor, and Field Training Officer. Lt. Curtis actively instructs agency personnel in some of these fields; including officers from other agencies.

Lieutenant Curtis attended the Basic Correctional Officer Academy through the Police Training Institute at DuPage County, where he was awarded the Outstanding Correctional Officer Award, as well as the Scholastic Achievement Award. When Lieutenant Curtis joined the law enforcement division he attended the Basic Law Enforcement Academy at the Police Training Institute in Champaign Illinois.

During his career at the Sheriff’s Office, Lieutenant Curtis has earned awards from the Illinois Department of Transportation - Division of Traffic Safety and the Alliance Against Intoxicated Motorists for his extraordinary efforts with traffic safety.
