Reserve Unit
The Stephenson County Sheriff’s Office Reserve Unit is comprised of dedicated members of the community who volunteer their time to supplement our services in a variety of assignments.
Examples of services provided by the Sheriff’s Office Reserve Unit include; traffic control, event security, supplemental courtroom security, snowmobile deployments, crowd control, parade detail, special events, search & rescue operations, rescue boat operations, additional patrol manpower, and response to natural or manmade disasters.
Reserve Unit – Mounted PatrolThe Sheriff’s Office Reserve Unit Mounted Patrol is a volunteer unit which supports special initiatives that call for a mounted deputy, like crowd control, civil unrest, and search and rescue. The unit also performs public relations at the county fair and parades and can assist other agencies upon request. The horses are personally owned by their riders who are responsible for the daily care and maintenance including feed, hay, bedding, housing, veterinary and farrier expenses.
