The Stephenson County Jail is a state of the art 216 bed corrections facility opened in 2000 and comprised of fifteen cell blocks. The facility contains nearly one-hundred surveillance cameras in addition to body-worn cameras worn by the staff. Responsibilities of Corrections Division personnel include; maintaining order, prisoner and cell searches, booking and release, fingerprinting, guard tours every thirty minutes, suicide checks every fifteen minutes, response to medical emergencies, distribution of meals, preparation of prisoners for court, supervising inmate visits, and prisoner discipline. In 2022, the average daily population was sixty-one inmates.
In addition to the operation of the jail, personnel assigned to the Corrections Division are also responsible for prisoner transports to/from other corrections facilities, including out of State transfers
