The Civil Process Division of the Stephenson County Sheriff’s Office manages service of process which includes; evictions, foreclosures, summons and subpoenas, orders of protection/civil no contact orders, trespass notices, replevins, wage deductions, garnishments, notices, and rules/orders. All service of process is handled by sworn law enforcement division personnel.

In addition to managing the service of process, the Civil Process Division also handles requests for insurance/traffic crash reports. The fee for those reports is $5.00. Traffic crash reports completed by the Stephenson County Sheriff’s Office can also be obtained online by visiting: https://buycrash.lexisnexisrisk.com/ui/home

The Sheriff's fee for conducting Foreclosure Sales is $600.00.

The Stephenson County Sheriff’s Office Civil Process Division is located at the Stephenson County Courthouse, 15 N. Galena Avenue, 3rd floor, Freeport, IL 61032. The Civil Process Division is open to the public from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday. Please note that the Civil Process Division is closed during all court holidays.
