Erica Chapple
Social Services Administrator, Erica Chapple, joined the Stephenson County Sheriff’s Office on June 2, 2023, after previously working for the Freeport Police Department as their first Social Services Professional.   Erica completed her bachelor’s degree with Upper Iowa University in 2018, and in August of 2023, she completed her master’s degree at Aurora University specializing in Forensic Social Work.
 
Erica’s passion for mental health, advocacy, and case management and her ability to be empathetic while building lasting relationships is something that shows her compassion. Erica is seen by her mentors as a change agent, a fierce advocate for those whom she serves by recognizing the needs of the individual and accommodating those needs so they can reach their greatest potential. Erica has seen how disability, trauma, and adverse childhood life experiences can impact a person throughout their lives. She communicates with police officers, probation, other social service organizations, mental health and substance abuse treatment facilities and agencies to ensure that all stakeholders are able to work together seamlessly.

Prior to working within law enforcement agencies, Erica served in numerous roles including, Direct Support Staff and Administrative Assistant for an agency that serves developmentally disabled clients, a Mental Health Technician and a Utilization Specialist for an inpatient behavioral health facility, an Intake Specialist for ADRC of Green County, a Probation Officer in Winnebago County and a Case Manager for FHN Family Counseling Center.  

Social Services Administrator Erica Chapple has completed an Illinois Law Enforcement Training & Standards Board certified 40-hour Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) training course, has previously served as a TACT Instructor, and is also trained and certified in CPR/First Aid, Mental Health First Aid, and ACE’s.
