Isaac Visel

Lieutenant Isaac Visel began his career with the Stephenson County Sheriff’s Office on June 18, 2018, being sworn in as a Correctional Officer and graduating from the Basic Correctional Officer Academy (Class #3289) in August of that year. Prior to Lieutenant Visel joining the Sheriff’s Office, he was a 2017 graduate of Southern Illinois University, earning a bachelor's degree in criminology and criminal justice.
Lieutenant Visel has served as a Field Training Officer since 2019 and was the Field Training Coordinator from 2021-2024. He was promoted to the rank of Corporal in January 2021, and then Lieutenant in January 2025. He has served as the Secretary and President of the PBPA and FOP Unions.
Lieutenant Visel has completed many certifications and classes throughout his career with the Sheriff’s Office: First Line Supervision, Applied Leadership Principles, Motivating Employees, Mastering the Leadership Challenges of Law Enforcement, Performance Management, Supervising and Managing the FTO Unit, Use of Force and Restraints in Jails/Corrections, and has been a Taser Instructor for over 3 years.
